Tomorrow the Olympic destination city will be decided for the year 2016. The candidate cities are: Chicago, Rio de Janeiro, Tokyo, and Madrid. In all likelihood it will be Rio but my hope is for Chicago, of course!! Lately, I have been reading about some people who hope Chicago does not receive the honor of hosting the 2016 Olympics for various outrageous reasons. Some have said it will prolong the economic downturn, be a financial burden to the citizens of Chicago, etc. As an avid sports fan and lover of all things Olympic, I sincerely hope Chicago is chosen and wished that the people of that city felt the same! Hosting the Olympics in your hometown is a once in a lifetime opportunity and Chicago may never host the Olympics in our generation. Bringing such an internationally beloved event to Chicago and America should always be welcomed and celebrated by all citizens. Unfortunately, not everyone in Chicago appears to be in support of the games being held there.
Instead of worrying about the potential economic loss the citizens of Chicago might experience why don't they think about what showcasing that great city to the world would do long-term for not just Chicago but America. If we demonstrated our innovation, creativity, and enthusiasm through how we build the facilities, welcome the international community, and support the games maybe the world would once again realize that America is a wonderful, successful, and globally aware nation that has respect and admiration for all cultures and nationalities!

1st Blog
So this is my first time blogging...I would normally think this is ridiculous and a waste of time but I always seem to think about news, events, etc and want to express my opinions. That is why I am beginning to blog. This blog will be my opinions and ideas about any topic I wish to discuss. I welcome any and all comments (whether positive or negative). I can be very passionate and wish only to express my thoughts and feelings in an honest, straight-forward manner. I will never discuss personal information unless it is pertinent to a point I am making or a story I am telling. I also may use ridiculous analogies to make a point. It will often seem like unnecessary exaggeration but I use it to make clear the point I am making.
Hope you enjoy the following "little commentary."
